The result instantly recognizable yet carrying a different message. This project sharpened my skills in animation timing, narrative subversion, and visual semiotics while working in a medium of our choice.

Paperplane

Video Course, Shenkar college, second year / 2024

A stop-motion reinterpretation of an existing video :”Giangrande - Paperplane”, replicating it’s rhythm and structure but replacing the narrative with a new message: A kid who lost his IDF pilot dad in the war and is looking for him in his interior world.

the goal was To explore how form and timing affect meaning in visual storytelling. The project aimed to demonstrate that a familiar sequence can gain entirely new meaning when its content is shifted.

Process:

this project was very challenging since I had only one month to work on it. I chose to animate a stop motion since I love animating in stopmotion. I started by studying the original video’s pacing, framing, and cuts. Then recreated each scene in stop motion using everyday objects and hand crafted props. designing the backgrounds and characters. While trying to maintain the same pace and imagery as possible.
